SUMMARY:We Need to Talk About Antisemitism
DESCRIPTION:The FHM Members: FREE\nNot-Yet Members: $10 \n Get Tickets\n \n\nBe part of an eye-opening conversation that explores why we hesitate\nto talk about antisemitism and provides the insight\, language\, and courage\nneeded to speak up and unite with understanding and action. \nAntisemitism is on the rise in America\, in cities and rural areas\,\nin red states and blue states\, hiding behind meme accounts or\nmarching openly in the streets. \nRabbi Diana Fersko is used to having difficult conversations with members of her congregation about the issues they face—from the threat of violence to microaggressions and identity denial. In We Need to Talk About Antisemitism\, she gives all of us the tools we need to understand the state of antisemitism today. \nCalling on Jews and non-Jews alike\, she teaches us how to speak up against hate—and counter it with a message of solidarity and hope. This is a timely read for anyone passionate about fighting for a better tomorrow. \n\n

SUMMARY:The Heebie Jeebies at CBGB’s: A Secret History of Jewish Punk
DESCRIPTION:[/su_note]\n Get Tickets\n\n\n \n \nThe FHM Members: $12.00\nStudents: $12.00\nNot-Yet Members: $22.00 \n\n\nJewish Punk & Holocaust History\n Lecture • Live Music • Conversation \nThis program examines a surprising and powerful cultural intersection: Jewish identity\, punk rock\, and Holocaust memory. Inspired by Steven Lee Beeber’s critically acclaimed The Heebie-Jeebies at CBGB’s: A Secret History of Jewish Punk\, the evening traces how themes of alienation\, resilience\, satire\, and survival—so often tied to the Jewish experience—found their voice in the raw\, rebellious energy of punk. \nAbout author Steven Lee Beeber: Steven Lee Beeber is the author of The Heebie-Jeebies at CBGB’s: A Secret History of Jewish Punk\, the editor of AWAKE! A Reader for the Sleepless\, and the associate editor of the literary journal\, Conduit. His work has appeared in Harpers\, The New York Times\, The Paris Review\, Fiction\, Crazyhorse\, Spin\, MOJO\, and elsewhere. He teaches creative writing and creative nonfiction at Emerson University and GrubStreet. \n \n\n\nFeatured Lecture (60 minutes)Steven Lee Beeber presents the Jewish cultural currents that informed punk and stories behind some of punk’s key figures like Joey Ramone and Lou Reed. \n\n\n\n\nLive MusicEra-informed performances bring the music to life  — think early Ramones\, Richard Hell-era rawness\, and Blondie’s downtown edge. \n\n\n\n\nConversation & Q&AA moderated conversation and audience Q&A will follow the lecture. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nQuestions? Send an email to: PublicPrograms@theFHM.org. \n  \nThank you to our partners! \n
