The FHM’s 3rd Annual “Rays Up Night” with the Tampa Bay Rays!

The Florida Holocaust Museum invited the community to enjoy the 3rd Annual “Rays Up Night” with the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday, July 5! Holocaust Survivor and current Board member, Lisl Schick threw out the first pitch.

Lisl Schick was born in Vienna, Austria. In 1939, at the age of eleven, her parents bravely sent her and her seven-year-old brother on a Kindertransport train for England to escape the Nazis. She and her brother lived in England in several boarding schools and private family homes before being reunited with their parents. Her father escaped to England in June 1939 where he was classified as an enemy alien and spent two years in an internment camp on the Isle of Man. In May 1940, Lisl’s mother found passage on the last ship that sailed from Italy to New York City. Finally, after a six-year separation, the family was reunited in New York City in January 1945.
