Changing The World Through Testimony

FreeDr. Stephen D. Smith, Executive Director of the USC Shoah Foundation – The Institute for Visual History and Education, will present a lecture at The Florida Holocaust Museum called “Changing The World Through Testimony” on December 2 at 6:30 p.m.
The talk is part of the Museum’s “Genocide and Human Rights Awareness Movement” series, and is free to all.
Dr. Smith is the founder of the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Executive Producer of Kwibuka, the anniversary commemoration of the genocide in Rwanda and a trustee of the South Africa Holocaust Genocide Foundation. A lauded international speaker and author, he has numerous publications and awards to his name.
Dr. Stephen D. Smith joined USC Shoah Foundation – The Institute for Visual History in 2009 and was named the inaugural UNESCO Chair on Genocide Education in 2013. He was installed as the first Andrew J. and Erna Finci Viterbi USC Shoah Foundation Executive Director Chair of the Institute in 2014.
Dr. Smith is committed to making the testimony of survivors of the Holocaust and of other crimes against humanity a compelling voice for education and action. His leadership at the Institute is focused on finding strategies to optimize the effectiveness of the testimonies for education, research and advocacy purposes. In the United Kingdom, he founded the National Holocaust Centre and co-founded the Aegis Trust. He was also inaugural Chairman of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust.
