Art, Fashion and Rock & Roll. Part 1: “Eggs and Skulls: the 60s and onwards” – Rock & Roll Fashion featuring custom designs by George Stovall.
George Stovall fled to Berkeley, California in the late 1960’s from Wall Street. He was an attendee at Bill Graham’s Fillmore West during the “Summer of Love” and on until 1973. He also had a part in the Altamont Speedway Free Festival that ended the “Summer of Love” in 1969.
George describes his art as being influenced by Salvadore Dali’s work; especially his fascination with eggs and skulls, and using disparate objects in such unusual ways to achieve thought provoking works. He also feels a kinship to the famous clothing designer and artist of the early to mid-20th century, Elsa Schiaparelli.
Free and open to the public. Please RSVP by calling 727.820.0100 ext. 301. RSVP is required.
