Tune into our day of virtual programming, all day on Yom HaShoah. The FHM’s annual Yom HaShoah Commemoration will be streamed on our Facebook page on Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), on Thursday, April 8, 2021. This year’s commemoration will include a virtual readings of Holocaust Victims’ names continuously throughout the day.

Participants from all over Florida are reading the names of Holocaust victims on April 8. There will be Survivor Talks at 12 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Through our educational programs based on original artifacts, archival documents, and artwork, The Florida Holocaust Museum works daily to translate the staggering statistics of genocide into individual stories. The Names Reading Commemoration is another effort to remember the victims as individual people with life histories.

Reading the names of the Jewish men, women, and children killed during the Holocaust is a symbolic yet deeply personal way of remembering these individuals. Most victims of the Holocaust don’t have graves – reciting their names allows for them to be memorialized while reminding us of their human dignity. Hearing their names offers us a chance to reflect on their lives and the events of the Holocaust while renewing our commitment to ensuring that such atrocities do not occur again.

We thank you for your continuing support of The Florida Holocaust Museum and for taking time to reflect with us.
