Statement on the Murders of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim
The murders of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim at the Capitol Jewish Museum in Washington, DC are a grim reminder of one of the key lessons of the Holocaust: when Jews are systematically dehumanized, they are in danger.
Yaron and Sarah were murdered for being Jews. Our hearts are with their loved ones as we call for swift justice for the perpetrator.
Antisemitic scapegoating is never justified—whether in Germany over 80 years ago or in America today.
Condemning these murders is not enough. Each of us—no matter our background—has a responsibility to act on a core lesson of the Holocaust: to combat antisemitism by standing in solidarity with the Jewish community and educating others, especially those closest to us, about its dangers. This is the mission The Florida Holocaust Museum works to fulfill every day.
May the memories of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim be a blessing.
